J.-C. Chappelier is involved in several projects in natural language processing. His main research interests include Probabilistic Parsing, Data Oriented Parsing, Text Representation and Distributional Semantics.
J.-C. Chappelier is also involved is two "Natural Language Processing" courses as well as in an introductory lecture on "Information Theory".
Born 1967 in Saint Dié (France), Jean-Cédric CHAPPELIER entered the École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (Télécom Paris) in 1988 where he specialized in Artificial Intelligence an Cognitive Sciences. He graduated from Télécom Paris in 1991. From September 1991 to end of 1992, Jean-Cédric worked at CERN (Geneva, Switzerland) developing a closed-orbit correction software for the LEP. From January 1993 to January 1996, he had been preparing a Ph.D. at Télécom Paris in the field of artificial neural-networks under the direction of Pr. A. Grumbach. He optained his Ph.D with jury felicitations on January 11, 1996. Since November 1996, Jean-Cédric is research assistant and lecturer at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he is working on several projects in the domain of Natural Language Processing.
